Rush Bowls—a fast-casual restaurant chain known for its meals-in-a-bowl crafted from the finest fruits and vegetables, topped with granola and honey, and blended with protein, vitamins, and other nutritious ingredients—is opening its first Connecticut location in Hartford on February 19.

Located on Front Street within the new University of Connecticut downtown campus at the historic Hartford Times building, the 1,100 square foot restaurant is one of at least three Rush Bowls locations to be owned and operated by husband and wife team Carlos and Arzu Stetzelberg.

“We are thrilled to officially introduce Rush Bowls to the Hartford community and bringing the delicious and nutritious meals to Connecticut for the first time,” says Carlos Stetzelberg. “Hartford is a perfect blend of business and entertainment, which is exactly where we want Rush Bowls to intersect. College students, business professionals and families alike will love our handcrafted meals and the quick nutrition we provide.”

Arzu Stetzelberg moved to Hartford to pursue her Master in Business Administration degree. Prior to Rush Bowls, she worked as a vice president at a large regional bank before deciding to fully dedicate herself to her growing family. Carlos Stetzelberg has worked in investment management for insurance companies for the past 20 years. With a career that demanded intensive traveling, Carlos experienced first hand the challenges of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and finding nutritious meals that he can have on the go.

After being affected by the growing epidemic of food allergies and intolerances, the family decided to revamp their lifestyle and eating habits, and now hope to help their community by adding to their options of healthy meals.

“Every parent struggles to feed their family nutritious and delicious meals. As we were looking for an opportunity to use our experience and become our own bosses, we came across Rush Bowls and resonated with the mission of providing quick healthy mealsfor all ages,” says Arzu Stetzelberg. “We are confident that Rush Bowls is a perfect fit for the bustling city of Hartford.”

Founded in 2004, Rush Bowls offers meals crafted from all-natural fruit, topped with organic granola and honey, and blended with protein, vitamins and other nutritious ingredients that taste delicious while promoting a healthy lifestyle. Customers can choose from over 40 signature bowls or all-natural smoothies made with fruit and vegetable bases, including acai, kale and avocado.

Over the past 15 years, Rush Bowls has cultivated a loyal following with its menu specializing in healthy, all-natural, fruit-blended meals-in-a-bowl for those on the go. Bowls are also available in vegan, gluten-free, soy-free and dairy free options, and anything can be custom made to cater to any and all dietary needs.

“Rush Bowls is very excited to be expanding to Hartford,” says founder and CEO Andrew Pudalov. “Since launching 15 years ago, our mission has remained the same—provide deliciously healthy meals that fuel your life, whatever your rush may be. Hartford’s growing market is well suited for our product line”

Nearly 100 Rush Bowls restaurants are currently in various stages of development across 16 states with a variety of deals in the pipeline in major markets throughout the United States. Company plans call for more than quadrupling the footprint by the end of 2019.
