K2 Restaurants announced the opening of Supertoro, a Japanese-inspired fast causal concept offering a contemporary yet convenient dining experience. This is the second original restaurant concept from K2, showcasing a custom package of Japanese favorites built upon the foundation of “less is more.”

From menu to custom packaging to atmosphere, Supertoro is a meticulously thought out concept intended to be a very straight forward, functional and memorable customer experience. K2 Restaurants will work in collaboration with Paul Madeiros and the newly formed SuperTrio Restaurants to grow the brand, with the first location of Supertoro debuting in The Gallery Food Hall slated for early summer of 2019, and plans to open two more locations later this year.

Supertoro offers your Japanese must-haves including baked hand rolls, cut rolls, and crispy rice galore in a build your own bento box format. Fill your custom bento box with choices from each section of the menu or double up on your favorites. Choose from starters like spicy edamame, shishito peppers, creamy rock shrimp, or chirashi with ponzu.

Then choose proteins on crispy rice or crispy wonton tacos, including Spicy Tuna, Spicy Salmon, Creamy Rock Shrimp, Crispy Beef, Chicken Katsu, Portobello Mushroom, and/or Veggie Tempura. Add some greens such as the Kale Caesar, Soba Salad, Seaweed Salad, or Cucumber Sunomono. Then finish off your box with a cut roll: California, Spicy Tuna, Spicy Salmon, Crispy Beef, Shrimp Tempura, or rotating Specialty Rolls. On tap and always flowing are sauces from a custom sauce dispensing bar.

“The concept of doing more with less has built the foundation for what Supertoro represents on all fronts,” says John Kolaski, Founder, CEO and Curator of K2 Restaurants. “From the clean lines of the design, to the distinct menu, to the custom packaging – we’ve pinpointed all the things guests love about Japanese dining and fit it into a bento box.”

Supertoro is an entirely original concept created by John Kolaski and his team at K2 Restaurants, who opened Azulé Taqueria in The Gallery Food Hall on the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica alongside STRFSH by Chefs Michael and Bryan Voltaggio, Paperboy by Jeremy Fall, Sumo Dog by Jeffrey Lunak and Dialogue by James Beard Award-winning chef Dave Beran, named one of the best new restaurants in the country by both Eater and GQ.
