May 13 is International Hummus Day, and to celebrate, Luna Grill is offering a free specialty hummus plate at 49 locations throughout Southern California and Dallas, Texas.

Marked with celebrations worldwide, this international day pays tribute to this dairy-free, gluten-free, nut-free, meat-free and drama-free food that goes with everything from fresh veggies to pita bread. Starring chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, lemon juice and garlic, this centuries-old favorite is popular throughout the United States and worldwide.

To celebrate the occasion, Luna Grill guests can receive a complimentary specially commissioned small plate suitable for two to share — a mix of both organic traditional and spicy hummus varieties, topped with fresh basil oil, crispy chickpeas, sumac and feta, served with carrots and celery from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. at any Luna Grill location (dine-in only, one per order, while supplies last).

“Hummus is a cornerstone of the Mediterranean diet, desired by young and old alike and continues to boom in popularity thanks to increased interest in plant-based eating. We are thrilled to share the love with our guests and ‘spread’ the joy surrounding this nutrition-packed staple,” says Maria Pourteymour, Luna Grill chief cuisine officer and co-founder.

Luna Grill is a pioneer of the “Luxe Casual” movement, providing fast, wholesome food that the whole family can enjoy. Luna Grill offers fresh Mediterranean cuisine such as signature kabob plates, gourmet salads, appetizers including hummus and falafel, wraps, desserts, craft beer and wine in a contemporary setting. The concept has now grown to 50 locations in Southern California, Inland Empire and the Dallas Fort Worth area.
