Just a month after testing the plant-based Impossible Whopper in St. Louis, Burger King is planning a national rollout. The company, per USA Today, said it expects “to quickly test in additional markets with the intention of nationwide distribution by end of year.”

Burger King added that the St. Louis test went “exceedingly well,” and that the Impossible Whopper sales are complementing traditional Whopper purchases.

The Impossible Whopper is currently being sold at 59 Burger Kings in and around St. Louis.

The limited-time offer made Burger King the first coast-to-coast quick-service restaurant to serve the plant-based meat from food startup Impossible Foods, maker of the Impossible Burger.

White Castle has also enjoyed a successful run of its Impossible Sliders, rolling them out systemwide in September 2018. That covers nearly 380 restaurants across 13 states.

Other quick-serves have tested plant-based meat lately as well, including QDOBA, Del Taco with Beyond Meat, and Blaze Pizza, among others.
