Hungry Howie’s Pizza celebrated brand achievements and welcomed new franchisees at the 2019 National Convention. The Howie Deliver convention took place at the MGM Grand in Detroit from June 17-20 and featured workshops and presentations to educate attendees.

John DeAngelis was honored with the James R. Hearn Award for his lifelong contributions as an ambassador to the Hungry Howie’s brand. Over the last several decades, DeAngelis has opened more than 20 stores across Central Florida, was responsible for Hungry Howie’s initial entrance into California and Colorado, and has invested in more than 60 additional locations across the country.

Hungry Howie’s 2018 Franchisee of the Year award was presented to the Cross Family. Their stores have consistently been top performers for all KPI’s and Store Brand Awareness reviews.

The Best Newcomer Award was given to Fawzi Simon for his performance throughout his first year of owning a Hungry Howie’s restaurant, or in his case, 20. Fawzi’s leadership, brand integrity, and support for his teams led him to remodel and upgrade the 18 initial stores he purchased throughout the state of Arizona, as well as opening five additional locations in the area.

Pat Patterson was named Marketer of the Year for his commitment to local marketing at his Hungry Howie’s locations in Ludington and Clare, Michigan. His integrated marketing plan embraced print, digital, email, and local store marketing. During the Hungry Howie’s 2018 Love, Hope & Pizza campaign, Pat partnered with the local Ludington hospital, and gave free pizzas to women who were reviewing mammograms.

“The opportunity to have all our franchisees together truly demonstrates the strong sense of community we have created and the commitment our teams have made to the Hungry Howie’s brand,” says Steve Jackson, President and CEO of Hungry Howie’s. “Their unrelenting efforts mirror our company values and their positive impact in local communities generates tremendous results and relationships.”
