After four years of serving as McDonald’s global chief marketing officer, Silvia Lagnado is stepping down from the position. She will be leaving the fast-food brand this fall. McDonald’s CEO Steve Easterbrook announced Lagnado’s departure in an email to employees on July 22, AdAge reported

“With the team, strategy and work on strong footing, Silvia has decided this is the right time to pursue new challenges and opportunities,” Easterbrook wrote in the email.

During her tenure at the fast food chain, Lagnado was at the forefront of projects and initiatives that impacted everything from brand awareness, merchandising, to media, and customer relationship management on a global level.

More recently, Lagnado brokered a deal last year with Disney to bring movie toys back to Happy Meals for the first time since 2006. The first release of new toys coincided with the premiere of The Lion King on July 19.

“Silvia led a team that defined the brand’s purpose ‘making delicious feel-good moments easy for everyone,’” Easterbrook said in the email.

Instead of filling the chief marketing officer position, the department has been restructured so two newly created senior vice president positions will handle Lagnado’s duties. Bob Rupczynski was named senior vice president of marketing technology and Colin Mitchell was named senior vice president of global marketing, Easterbrook announced in the email.

Mitchell joined McDonald’s in 2016 as a global brand VP and worked with Lagnado closely. He will now report directly to Easterbrook.
