Potbelly Sandwich Shop announced the opening of a new shop, a franchise location, in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Opening to the public on Monday, August 5, the new location is conveniently situated at the Spotswood Square Shopping Center. The freshly built outparcel venue at the shopping center joins 26 Potbelly locations in the state and marks the first in the Shenandoah Valley.

Potbelly shops have earned a reputation across the United States for having delicious food and a warm, neighborhood atmosphere, thriving within bustling areas such as Harrisonburg. David Duke and Jay Clark, the owners of the new shop, have a combined 35 years of restaurant industry experience.

“We’re ready to introduce the folks in Harrisonburg and from close by James Madison University to Potbelly,” says Duke. “Our existing locations have been hits in their communities, and we’re honored to bring the concept to the Harrisonburg market. We know they’ll love our tasty sandwiches, salads, shakes, cookies and more.”

In 2014, Duke and Clark opened their first Potbelly location in Richmond.  “David and Jay’s passion for what makes Potbelly so unique is truly inspiring,” said Peter Ortiz, Vice President of Franchise Development for Potbelly. “There is no doubt that the shop will quickly become a local favorite.”

Normal hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. Friday through Saturday. While James Madison classes are in session (beginning August 19), hours will be 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, and 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. Thursday through Saturday (dining room closes at midnight).

Currently, there are more than 450 corporate and franchise Potbelly shops in the United States.

As the brand continues to expand throughout the country, the brand is awarding franchise opportunities to qualified multi-unit groups who are looking to add another successful segment to their portfolio.
