INDAY, a group of Indian-inspired eateries in New York City, is reopening its Midtown East location at 708 3rd Ave (44th and 3rd) for walk-in, pickup, and delivery. INDAY will be matching up to $5,000 in donations to organizations directly supporting the fight for racial justice, as well as supporting customer donations to the Equal Justice Initiative through their site. Alongside it’s classic menu, INDAY is debuting its newest concept, INDAY Home. INDAY Home is a dinner offering serving craveable Indian flavors centered around a family-style meal experience.

INDAY Home is inspired by the homestyle Indian cuisine that founder, Basu Ratnam, grew up on. “After traveling extensively to India and London to research the culinary capitals of Indian cuisine,” says Ratnam, “I was ultimately drawn to the recipes I grew up eating.”

While Ratnam says “the concept of INDAY Home had been in my mind for over a year,” he recently felt a sense of urgency to share it with INDAY’s audience. “During times of crisis,” he says, “We all find solace in returning to our roots – whether literally returning to our childhood bedrooms or figuratively trying to recreate our mom’s recipes with what we can find in our own kitchens.” And this is exactly how the INDAY Home menu was developed.

Ratnam and his chefs shared daily video calls with Ratnam’s mother, for cooking lessons, storytelling, and taste tests, all happening in their home kitchens. Countless samples were exchanged and dropped off in each other’s homes, harking to the tiffin culture of India – a seemingly magical network of delivery infrastructure that transports thousands of home cooked meals by foot to office dwellers throughout the country.

INDAY Home is meant to bring comfort, joy, and wonder, and reflects a deeper commitment to extending those experiences of Indian culture and cuisine into people’s homes. All menu items are simple, and unfussy, rustic offerings that feature familiar, craveable flavors with INDAY’s commitment to the highest quality ingredients. The menu features dishes such as Tandoori Rotisserie Chicken, marinated in yogurt and tandoori spice; Chicken Biryani, slow-cooked, layered, and aromatic rice dish with charred onions and garam masala; and Saag Paneer, farmer’s cheese slowly cooked in a tangle of spinach and kale.

While the INDAY team is thrilled to once again serve their guests, INDAY will continue to support those on the front lines through a long term partnership with Cornell Weill hospital. After a full shutdown of all restaurants due to the strict lockdown of NYC, the INDAY team spent one month preparing meals for healthcare workers throughout NYC and partnering with organizations like Rethink to get food to the swelling numbers of people in need.

INDAY will be open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner, with INDAY Home offered after 5pm, and delivery available from Union Square to Lenox Hill. Along with the INDAY Home menu, customers will still be able to order the healthy, flavorful bowls the restaurant has been serving since it opened in 2015.
