Travelers to San Antonio will have new local flavor to enjoy at San Antonio International Airport as HMSHost and joint venture partner Chelsea’s Sandwiches of Texas Inc. announced today the award of a new 10-year food and beverage concessions contract. HMSHost was also awarded a new 10-year newsstand contract at SAT with joint venture partner The Houston 8 LLC.

A new Rosario’s Mexican Café y Cantina will open later this year in the new Terminal B. For nearly two decades, Rosario’s Mexican Café y Cantina has served as the anchor business for the Southtown-King William area in San Antonio and has become a destination landmark with locals and tourists alike. Menu favorites such as Rosario’s famous Shrimp Nachos, Pollo a la Maria, Angelica’s Ceviche Fino, a variety of margaritas, and more will be served at the Terminal B location. Travelers will also find Rosario’s famous Grilled Fish or Shrimp Taco, named as the No. 2 dish “You Must Eat before You Die” by Texas Monthly.

“We are very pleased to continue our relationship with HMSHost, whose understanding of our travelers’ preferences is evidenced by the outstanding local dining and newsstand brands they’re bringing to our new Terminal,” says Frank Miller, aviation director of the San Antonio aviation department.

Also for the new Terminal B, HMSHost combined Starbucks Coffee with R Sala Bebida Botana Bar. At Starbucks, SAT travelers may enjoy pastries, bagels, sandwiches, and salads along with their favorite hand-crafted coffee beverage, and purchase a selection of bagged ground and whole bean coffee. R Sala will provide the perfect setting to enjoy small plate offerings representative of San Antonio’s local cuisine. Menu selections will include chorizo-stuffed empanadas served with Poblano sour cream, Alambres mini beef and chicken skewers drizzled with chimichuri salsa, braised barbecue brisket served on a grilled French bun, and more.

San Antonio Express~News and Texas Monthly News round out the new concession venues HMSHost is bringing to Terminal 1 and Terminal B later. A total of six newsstand locations will provide newspapers, magazines, sundries, snacks, water, and more.

“HMSHost and our ACDBE partners, Chelsea’s Sandwiches of Texas and The Houston 8 LLC, appreciate the opportunity to showcase the city of San Antonio’s best local offerings as part of San Antonio International Airport’s new concessions program,” says Anthony Alessi, vice president and business development leader at HMSHost. “With such a variety of bold and unique flavors, we have the opportunity to make the traveler’s day better when they’re visiting this exciting city.”
