Salad Creations announced yesterday that its more than 50 restaurants across the country are accepting donations to the Food For The Poor Haiti Earthquake Fund through February 28, 2010. Each Salad Creations is accepting monetary donations in their restaurants as part of the company’s efforts to aid in the relief work in Haiti.

Food For The Poor is the largest international relief organization in the United States, according to the Chronicle of Philanthropy. It serves the poorest of the poor in 17 countries throughout the Caribbean and Latin America. Founded in 1982, the interdenominational Christian agency provides emergency relief assistance, clean water, medicines, educational materials, homes, support for orphans and the aged, skills training and micro-enterprise development assistance, with more than 96 percent of all donations going directly to programs that help the poor.

Since the earthquake struck Haiti on January 12, 2010, Food For The Poor has acquired and begun to ship thousands of tons of relief items.
