Paisano’s six restaurant locations (in the Virginia cities of Reston, Fairfax City, Chantilly, and Fair Lakes Herndon) and Bella Pizza of Centreville, Virginia, became collection sites for area residents to drop off canned or boxed foods for those less fortunate over the holiday season. Donations are being made to St. Andrew the Apostle church, which will distribute the food.
“I know the capacity for caring among the greater Fairfax County community is second to none,” says Fouad Qreitem, principal for all six Paisano’s locations. “I was 100 percent confident this food drive would be a success and I’m proud to have my businesses serve as collection centers. I hope shoppers will simply continue to pick up an extra item or two at the grocery and use Paisano’s or Bella Pizza as drop-off centers. We’ll see that the product gets into the hands of St. Andrew. This is the time of year to be thankful; a canned ham, corn meal, pudding mix, fruit cocktail, or something similar can make a real difference to those less fortunate.”
St. Andrew the Apostle is accepting non-perishable food donations at the parish office weekdays and in the parish hall after all Sunday Masses. The church will donate all collected food to Western Fairfax Christian Ministries and House of Mercy, nonprofit organizations dedicated to helping needy families in the region, as well as local families. Parishioners and anyone who wish to help are asked to drop off canned goods and other nonperishable items.
