Less than a year after Starbucks Coffee Company announced a multi-year partnership with (RED), the company announced that contributions from millions of daily purchases of (STARBUCKS)RED products have generated contributions equal to more than 5 million daily doses of antiretroviral medicine to help fight AIDS in Africa.

The partnership, launched as part of the Starbucks’ Shared Planet commitment to communities, started with a selection of beverages that contributed five cents to the Global Fund from each drink purchased. All beverages turned (RED) on World AIDS Day on December 1, 2008, and Starbucks eventually launched the (STARBUCKS)RED Card, from which Starbucks contributes five cents from every purchase made with the card to the Global Fund.

Also, purchase of either (STARBUCKS)RED whole bean coffee or (STARBUCKS)RED Soft Touch Tumbler results in a $1 contribution from Starbucks directly to the Global Fund.

Starbucks will continue to introduce various (RED) products in the future to sustain a significant contribution to the Global Fund.
