The Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) recently concluded its Shamrocks Against Dystrophy campaign but this year put a twist on the traditional fundraiser.

MDA partnered with twenty-year veteran sponsor, Burger King, on a first ever, co-branded fundraising program, “Crowns for a Cure.”

Through Burger King’s Have it Your Way Foundation, for the first time all 2,200 restaurants nationwide sold $1 and $5 crowns. Burger King reports they have raised $1.2 million this year.

This is also the first year that all Denny’s locations have been involved in Shamrocks Against Dystrophy, with 700 restaurants selling Shamrocks nationwide. Denny reports they have raised more than $500,000.

Money raised through the Shamrocks Against Dystrophy campaign is used for research for treatments and cures, support group sessions, clinic fees, MDA summer camp, and mobility and communication devices. Money raised stays in the local communities and provides hope to families living with these diseases.
