This weekend the two Hooters restaurants in the Raleigh area are raising money to support the Matthew Foundation by donating 10 percent of sales to the cause. The foundation aims to raise funds to help pay for medical bills for Matthew Baldwin, a 4-year-old boy who lost his leg in a lawnmower accident last year.

“We selected this weekend to raise the money because we know it is going to be busy with the (football) game on Sunday, and we want to raise as much as possible for Matthew,” says Blair Pender, regional manager for Hooters of America Inc. “It is a tragic situation, and I am happy that Hooters can help out his family and relieve some of the financial stress so they can focus on his therapy.”

The weekend fundraising will kick off Saturday at the Hooters of Raleigh Airport with a bake sale and VIP Wing Party for Matthew and some of the children from his recovery group at the hospital.
