Surlean Foods announced their receipt of the Silliker Inc. Platinum Certificate of Recognition for 2007. Surlean Foods was one of only eight food manufacturers in North America to receive this Audit Platinum Award.

Silliker serves as an authority in the industry for measuring standards of food safety and good manufacturing practices for food processing. Combining recognized industry practices and principles, as well as recommendations from the National Advisory Committee for Microbiological Criteria in Foods, USDA and FDA, Sillker assesses companies on a 100-point scale. The Silliker 2007 Platinum Awards bring special recognition for those standout companies receiving the highest audit scores throughout the year prior, noting a minimum score of 95 percent. An annual recipient of the Silliker Gold Certificate of Recognition since 2000, Surlean Foods maintains exceptional audit scores and was among those with the highest scores in 2007, becoming a Platinum Award recipient.

“To be recognized by Silliker for our ongoing commitment to customers is an exceptional honor,” says Daryl Scott, president of Surlean Foods. “With our focus on food safety and constant improvement, the entire Surlean Foods team continuously strives to deliver only the best products and quality.”

Comprehensive audits conducted by Silliker assess everything from food safety and quality systems to grounds, buildings, and equipment, as well as plant sanitation and pest control.
Employee practices, receiving, storage, processing, and shipping are also evaluated. Beyond recognizing best practices, the audits also help identify areas for future improvement.
