McDonald’s Tulsa area restaurants are going mobile with a new, interactive cell phone and internet-based promotion making its debut in the Midwest.

The “Mobile Whoa” promotion is part of McDonald’s Whoa! Campaign and has three fun ways customers can get involved: a mobile scavenger hunt, the mCoup(TM) mobile coupon and the camera phone and Web site picture gallery.

For those who like the challenge of a chase, the mobile scavenger hunt is just for them. Customers can get in the hunt by text messaging “hunt 62931” or by registering online at www.mobilewhoa.com. Customers will receive a series of clues via a cell phone text message. Once the participant has solved the first clue, they’ll receive another — and another until they have solved the scavenger hunt.

For people who enjoy a late night meal and saving money in the process, beginning April 17th, they can take advantage of the mCoup mobile coupon. Those who register for the mCoup will receive a cell phone text message good for a free small order of fries or hashbrown redeemable at any Northeast Oklahoma McDonald’s.

For the amateur photographer and music lover in everyone, players will score free music ring tones and wallpapers just for snapping pictures of themselves and friends.

All customers who submit a photo will receive a code on their phone to download a free ring tone or wallpaper. The photos will be posted in a photo gallery online at mobilewhoa.com.

The mobile promotion is part of McDonald’s Whoa! campaign in Tulsa to promote the recent changes both inside and outside the local restaurants. Many of the Tulsa-area restaurants have undergone remodels to make them more relevant to customers and create a “forever young” feel. These feature numerous customer conveniences like wireless Internet, cashless technology, and plasma-screen TV’s.

“McDonald’s is always adopting new ways to be relevant to our customers, sometimes using the latest technology to fit their on-the-go lifestyles,” said Kevin Hern, McDonald’s Tulsa area Owner/Operator. “The ‘mobilewhoa’ program is a nice complement to the wireless Internet launch in all Oklahoma restaurants last year. This program is significant because it allows us to communicate with our customers in yet another way. We love bringing new ideas to Tulsa because the customers here make everything a success.”
