Reuters reported yesterday that People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has made its efforts at convincing KFC to improve its animal handling practices to a personal level.

PETA has reportedly begun sending volunteers to Louisville, Kentucky to visit the neighbors, the pastor, the country club, and local restaurants frequented by parent company YUM! Brands (NYSE: YUM) CEO David Novak. The visits are apparently designed to convince those close to Novak to convince him to treat chickens better.

In a touch of irony, Reuters says PETA has sent conflict resolution consultant Steve Gross to canvas the neighborhoods of Novak and KFC President Cheryl Bachelder in order to stir up support for the group’s agenda. PETA says it will continue to target the company and its executives until its demands are met.

A KFC spokesperson told Reuters the company had no comment on the group’s misinformation campaign.
