Bedford, Texas—May 22, 2002—During the month of June, participating Texas DQ restaurants will be turned into Scooby Centrals, offering custom Scooby-Doo toys, as well as Scooby-designed frozen cakes, specials on the chicken strip baskets, and a limited-time Scooby-Doo Mystery Crunch Blizzard Flavor Treat.

The Dairy Queen system is partnering with the release of the Scooby-Doomovie, due to release on June 14. The live-action movie, with a computer-generated image Scooby-Doo, is rated PG.

“We did a Scooby-Doo kids promotion in 1999 and it was one of the most successful kid’s promotions the DQ system has ever had, ” explains Larry Newell, president of the Texas Dairy Queen Operators’ Council. “We believe this promotion will be even more successful.”

In June and July, participating Dairy Queen restaurants that carry the DQ Frozen Cakes, have exclusive rights on select Scooby-Doo designs.
The Scooby-Doo Mystery Crunch Blizzard Flavor Treat will be geared to kids and served in a special 12-ounce Scooby cup. The treat is made with green, blue, yellow, and orange-raspberry flavored crunchy candy pieces, developed exclusively for this product. When the candy is mixed with DQ soft serve, the pieces begin to swirl together, giving the Blizzard Flavor Treat a “tie-dye” look.

“No matter what age, everyone will be able to enjoy Scooby-Doo at Texas Dairy Queen restaurants,” says Newell. “We have plenty of fun specials to celebrate Scooby and his new movie.”
