Panda Express announces its first freestanding location on the East Coast in Bethesda, Maryland on June 7.

Operated by the family-owned, South Pasadena, California-based Panda Management Company, Inc., the freestanding location marks Panda Express’ first venture outside of its traditional shopping mall locations on the East Coast. Panda Express now has four mall locations throughout Maryland, with plans to open two additional mall locations this summer at the St. Charles Town Center in Waldorf and the Bowie Town Center in Bowie.

Panda Express has more than 370 restaurants throughout the 34 states, Puerto Rico and Japan, and the new street location in Bethesda marks the continuing rapid growth of the brand, which expects to unveil its 400th location later this year.

A festive grand opening is planned on June 7 for the new Bethesda location that will include a ribbon cutting ceremony, colorful Chinese Lion Dance and radio remote with WASH 97.1 FM. As part of the ‘Panda Cares’ program, a percentage of opening day net proceeds will be donated to benefit the Family Support Center and United Way.

Panda Express is located at 7345 Wisconsin Avenue in Bethesda.
