Burger King Corporation today announced the appointment of Derek Correia to vice president, product marketing USA, effective immediately. Within his new position, Correia will take on all responsibilities for product marketing activities including the Whopper® sandwich, the growing breakfast business, as well as new product initiatives. He will report directly to Stefan Bomhard, Senior Vice President, Marketing USA.

Correia joined Burger King Corporation in 1999 as Director of Product Marketing. In that role, he was responsible for product innovation and marketing, strategic menu development, and brand management. He has been instrumental in bringing an increased number of new products into the development pipeline, including the recently launched X-treme Double Cheeseburger, a successful recent limited offer menu item at U.S. Burger King restaurants.
Prior to joining Burger King Corporation, Correia was the Director of Brand Marketing at Pizza Hut in Dallas, Texas, where he helped develop The Big New Yorker Pizza, The Ultimate Cheese Pizza, and numerous other new products and concepts. He held several regional marketing positions during his six-year career at Pizza Hut helping to drive record results in the company’s northeast division during the 1997-98 turnaround. He began his career in marketing in New York with TMP Worldwide in 1990.
Correia graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Management and Marketing from the State University of New York at Binghamton. He is now based at Burger King Corporation worldwide headquarters in Miami where he lives with his wife and son.
