NASCAR driver David Gilliland was on the fast track to share the Yum! Brands, Inc. World Hunger Relief message last weekend at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama. Gilliland’s No. 34 Ford Fusion sported the World Hunger Relief logos and decals from Yum! Brands, Inc., KFC, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell, as he got behind the wheel at NASCAR’s fastest track.

“Nearly a billion people go hungry worldwide, and the Yum! Brands family has been responsible for raising nearly $85 million to fight hunger since 2007,” says Jonathan Blum, chief public affairs officer for Yum! Brands, Inc. “We take every opportunity to share our hunger relief message, and we are very grateful to our franchisee Bob Jenkins and Front Row Motorsports for helping spread the word among NASCAR fans this weekend.”

Jenkins operates 132 restaurants in the eastern United States. He, Gilliland, and Front Row Motorsports asked fans to donate $1 to World Hunger Relief – an amount that can provide four meals to hungry children at school. Donations can be made at www.FromHungerToHope.com or at any participating KFC, Pizza Hut, or Taco Bell restaurant. Every dollar raised goes directly toward the World Food Programme’s (WFP) operations to help fight hunger around the world.

"We're fortunate to be able to go racing every week and do what we love," Jenkins says. "And every time we go on track, we have the opportunity to send a message to the people who see our cars. There are a lot of people all over the world, kids especially, who can't just go to the refrigerator or to a restaurant to get something to eat like we can. We're happy to help raise some awareness for this campaign to help them."

Yum! Brands' annual World Hunger Relief campaign is the world's largest private sector hunger relief effort, spanning 110 countries; 38,000 KFC, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell restaurants; and more than a million employees, to raise awareness, volunteerism, and funds for the United Nations' WFP and other hunger relief agencies.

Yum! is also addressing hunger across the United States through its Harvest program. Since its launch over two decades ago, Harvest has become the largest prepared-food donation program in the world. Through Harvest, Yum! has donated more than 125 million pounds of food, with a value of more than $500 million, to those at risk of hunger in the U.S.
