With healthier eating a growing priority around the country – and diners eager to stick to New Year's resolutions – Luby's has just debuted its 2012 list of smart menu choices.
The iconic, Texas-based cafeteria chain's newest Livin'Smart menu now encompasses more than 60 fresh and flavorful dishes that each weigh in at less than 600 calories.
Delectable highlights include a Shrimp & Crawfish Jambalaya, Cuban Grilled Tilapia, Chicken Piccata, Mushroom Turkey Chopped Steak, Almond Rice, Lemon Roasted Asparagus and Squash Saute.
A minimum of five Livin'Smart entrees with qualifying sides are currently in daily rotation at locations throughout Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. Additionally, diners can look up nutritional information by visiting the Luby's website, where classic favorites and new offerings featured in the Livin'Smart program have been analyzed to compile calorie, fat, carbohydrate, and fiber data in an easy to follow chart.
Originally developed in late 2009 as part of a specialty wellness initiative for Luby's Culinary Services, the company's contract foodservice division, Livin'Smart has been a runaway success.
According to Peter Tropoli, COO of Luby's, "It is becoming increasingly evident that restaurants need to play a more active role in offering guests access to healthier dining options, and with Livin'Smart, we have been able to do just that, ultimately enhancing the experience for our customers."
Luby's also entices diners to start the year right by dedicating time to family meals. When parents or guardians can't cook at home, the comfortable, family-friendly atmosphere of Luby's serves as a perfect backdrop for the made-from-scratch, comfort food and welcoming service for which Luby's is known.
Luby's, Inc. operates restaurants under the brands Luby's and Fuddruckers and provides foodservice management through its Luby's Culinary Services division. The company operated restaurants include 93 cafeterias, 58 Fuddruckers restaurants, and four other non-core restaurants.
