The tenant roster at Columbus Square continues to take shape as three major retail tenants became the latest additions to the sprawling mixed-use development project that has brought unprecedented new life to the Upper West Side and turned Columbus Avenue from 97th to 100th Streets into one of the city’s major shopping corridors.

At nearby 805 Columbus Ave., Starbucks Coffee Company has leased 1,200 square feet on the corner of 100th Street, filling the last corner availability at the property, according to Kelly Winick Realty Group LLC associate director.

Adjacent to the new Starbucks storefront, a 1,500-square-foot space was leased to Verizon Wireless. Jason Daniels and David Landes of Royal Properties represented Verizon in the transaction, while David Firestein of SCG Retail represented Starbucks.

“With the addition of Verizon and Starbucks, we are proud to say that the traffic flow of the three blocks between 97thand 100th streets on Columbus Avenue is now complete,” says Gedinsky, who is currently negotiating leases at 801 Amsterdam Avenue. “We are now looking to fill the remaining inline spaces, with floor plates ranging from 2,700 to 4,300 square feet. It’s a great opportunity for smaller stores to join the many exciting brands who have found great success at Columbus Square.”

Because of the prestige and unmatched potential of the project, Michael’s Arts & Crafts and HomeGoods both chose Columbus Square for their first Manhattan retail store, and Winick Realty Group LLC is proud to announce that a third retailer has selected Columbus Square as the site of their first Manhattan flagship store.

An exciting, as-yet-unnamed children’s clothing concept leased approximately 7,000 square feet of ground floor space, in addition to an approximately 2,200-square-foot basement, at 808 Columbus Avenue.

“We are thrilled to once again introduce a retail concept to Manhattan at Columbus Square, an amazing development has brought new life to the Upper West Side through its singular vision and incomparable draw for the area’s residents and shoppers,” says Gedinsky, who exclusively represents the retail at Columbus Square with Executive Vice President Lori Shabtai.

Backed by a major athletic company, the store is set to be a game-changer for the area, offering a brand-new retail experience for families living in the complex, as well as students attending the Solomon Schechter School and the Mandell School on-site.

Winick Realty Group LLC Senior Managing Director Zach Mishaan represented the retailer in this lease transaction and will continue to act as the company’s exclusive broker going forward.

Since Winick Realty Group LLC began marketing the 350,000-square-foot retail project, which sits just south of Columbia University and just west of Central Park at the base of 780 newly-built, state-of-the-art residential units, the company has brought a venerable who’s who of retail to the area, including TJ Maxx, Sephora, Whole Foods, Crumbs, Petco, Associated Supermarket, Chase Bank, Bank of America, Modell's Sporting Goods, the Ryan Center, the Solomon Schechter School and the Mandell School.

Winick Realty Group LLC received 2008’s Retail Deal of the Year award for most significantly benefiting Manhattan with the Columbus Square project.
