The Second Cup Coffee Company continues to build its global presence with its recently announced plans to open additional cafes south of the Canadian border.

"We are pleased to announce we will be opening cafes in the state of Florida and have signed an agreement with our newest franchise partner, Coffee by the Sea," says Jim Ragas, president of Second Cup International.

"Canadian customers have embraced the Second Cup Coffee cafe offerings for over 37 years and internationally for over 10 years, and we wish to continue to build on that momentum with further expansion in new and exciting markets. Accelerated expansion into new regions like Florida is one of the main pillars that we continue to build upon to achieve our vision of a leading global premium cafe brand."

The first Florida location will open this fall in Pembroke Pines, Broward County.

"Second Cup believes that having strong owners as operators is instrumental to delivering a superior guest experience," Ragas says. "We are fortunate to have franchise partners who share our passion for the coffee business and are fully aligned with the Second Cup vision. Our franchise partners are selected on the basis of their business acumen, passion for the coffee cafe business, and customer service, local relationships, and entrepreneurial spirit."

The Second Cup Coffee Cafe concept originated more than 37 years ago in Toronto, Canada. Second Cup's international expansion began in 2003 and has opened cafes in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Syria, Jorda, Riyadh, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Romania, Morocco, and the U.S., among others. Plans are also in place to open locations in the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.
