Union Square Events, the events business from Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group, is pleased to announce new in-park dining offerings for the 2013 season at the New York Mets’ Citi Field.

Returning culinary highlights include beloved burger, hot dog, and frozen custard stand Shake Shack; Belgian-style frites and gourmet hot dog stand Box Frites; and modern-day taco stand El Verano Taquería, which is bringing back fan-favorite Steak Tacos (marinated, char-grilled skirt steak).

Beginning this season, El Verano Taquería and Blue Smoke On The Road will be available in the Sterling and Empire Suites.

Blue Smoke On The Road introduces new offerings like the Beef Brisket Sandwich with Chopped Hickory-Smoked Brisket on a Brioche Bun with Spicy KC Sauce, and new sides such as Corn Bread served with Chipotle Butter and Pit Beans (Slow-cooked beans with pulled pork).

For ‘cue lovers, barbecue platters are now also available; fans have a choice of two between pulled pork, beef brisket, or spare ribs, which are served with corn bread and pit beans.

“We’ve listened to our fans and we’re delighted to bring them more of the Blue Smoke On The Road dishes that they’ve been craving, including our signature Beef Brisket Sandwich and Pit Beans,” says Mark Maynard-Parisi, senior managing partner of Blue Smoke Enterprises.

“And we’re excited to have the opportunity to extend the warm hospitality and culinary excellence of Blue Smoke On The Road to the Sterling and Empire Suites,” he adds.

Joining the lineup this season is El Verano Cantina, an extension of El Verano Taquería, which serves up the ultimate summer refreshments, like frozen cocktails such as classic margaritas and daiquiris; cocktails like the Fielder’s Choice Agua Fresca made with tequila, watermelon juice, fresh mint, and sugar; and snacks like Chile Roasted Peanuts (slow-roasted in chile spices) and fresh mango (lightly dusted with red chile spices).

These additional offerings reflect USE’s mission to elevate the fan experience and deliver award-winning cuisine with unparalleled hospitality in sports and entertainment venues. “We are constantly looking to improve concession offerings for Citi Field’s baseball fans and are excited to deliver delicious food and drink in a category that was previously unavailable in the ballpark,” says chef Anthony DeLois, executive sous chef for Union Square Events’ sports and entertainment division.
