Fatburger, the famous American burger franchise, has opened its first location in Africa’s largest city, Cairo. The chain’s juicy burgers were brought to the market by WH Global, a food and beverage distributor based in Bahrain. This location is sure to be a landmark, marking the burger brand’s development into Africa for the first time.

The better burger concept currently operates in 27 countries across the globe, with openings in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and Istanbul, Turkey slated for the coming months. The North African location will be the brand’s first venture on the continent, bringing its signature burger concept to an unexplored international market. Fatburger also has agreements to expand its global footprint with over 300 new units under development in the U.S., Asia, Europe and the Middle East. Fatburger continues to focus on building its international presence worldwide with approximately half of its restaurant locations based overseas.

With the most recent restaurant in Cairo, we’ve made Fatburger history by bringing our brand to a new continent, exemplifying our commitment to developing a truly global brand,” says Andy Wiederhorn, CEO of Fatburger. “For years, our brand has been internationally recognized and we are proud to bring Egypt our trademark, All-American burger experience.”
