In a city that holds the largest Oktoberfest celebration outside of Munich Germany, and where Cincinnati-style chili is the hometown dish, it’s only natural that Gold Star Chili, The Flavor of Cincinnati, introduces The Oktoberfest Cheese Coney.
The “Zinzinnati-style” Oktoberfest Cheese Coney swaps some of Gold Star’s traditional cheese coney ingredients for more seasonal, fest-style ones, featuring: A flavorful brat, spicy brown mustard, Gold Star Chili, cheese, and optional sauerkraut. After extensive consumer taste-test interviews, participants proclaimed the Oktoberfest Cheese Coney, “Gut!”
“From late August through early October, the ‘flavor’ of the Greater Cincinnati area is decidedly German and celebratory fest-focused,” says Gold Star Chili vice president of marketing, Charlie Howard. “Gold Star saw the opportunity to merge two great traditions, Oktoberfest and the Cincinnati-style cheese coney, into a tasty new flavor variation on one of our classic menu items. We’re hoping that it will become a new seasonal Tri-State tradition.”
The Oktoberfest Cheese Coney will be available at all Gold Star Chili locations throughout Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky through October 6. After that, it’s “auf wiedersehen” until Oktoberfest 2014.
