Red Mango, one of the fastest-growing frozen yogurt and smoothie chains in America, is expanding its presence on college campuses and has opened its newest location at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, in time to welcome back students for the 2013–2014 school year.

Located in the Bryan Center, franchise owners Steve Mosh and NASCAR driver Bobby Labonte say this Red Mango will make a big impact with students and visitors on the Duke campus.

“We both have passion for the Red Mango brand, and I cannot think of a better place to bring their healthy snack or dessert alternatives than Duke University,” Mosh says. “This location has been in the works for a while, so it’s great to open in time to welcome students with a healthy start to the school year.”

After retiring from a successful business career, Mosh discovered Red Mango and became a strong advocate for the brand. Signing his first development deal a year after retirement, Mosh saw this as a chance to help people satisfy their craving for sweet and decadent treats, but with an eye on society’s shift toward healthier lifestyle options.  

Labonte was a big fan of the Red Mango products and store environment, having been a loyal customer at Mosh’s first store in Greensboro, North Carolina. After meeting Mosh and learning more about the Red Mango business model, they decided to become business partners for Red Mango.

The Duke location is the second site they have opened together and is the third location for Mosh.

“We both believe Duke University is the perfect location for our new Red Mango,” Labonte says. “We are excited to offer students a healthier option to choose while dining on campus.”
