On Sunday, October 20, Haagen-Dazs Shops will open its newest location at the Shops at Coconut Point in Estero, Florida.

To commemorate the occasion, Haagen-Dazs will host a grand opening celebration, awarding free ice cream for a year to one winner through a raffle hosted the day of the event. During Sunday’s celebration, Haagen-Dazs will also give the first 500 customers a free scoop of their favorite ice cream flavor.

“We’re excited to bring Haagen-Dazs to the Shops at Coconut Point,” says Nick Thanas, owner of the new Haagen-Dazs Shop. “And we think that sweetening the day a little bit with free ice cream for our new customers is the best way to show our appreciation for the warm welcome we’ve already received.”

Founded in 1961 by Reuben Mattus after years of selling ice cream from a wagon on the streets of New York for his family’s business, the vision for Haagen-Dazs was to produce the highest quality ice cream available. Mattus’ successful execution of this vision led to the launch of the first Häagen-Dazs Shop in 1976, which still operates today in Brooklyn, New York.

Haagen-Dazs Shops of Coconut Point will offer the frozen desserts created from many of the same recipes that the company was founded upon in 1961.

“Owning a piece of one of the world’s most recognizable brands and being able to operate as my own boss is something that is truly unique and gratifying,” says Thanas. “Being able to share that with my local community makes it just that much sweeter.”

In addition to its signature ice cream creations, the internationally-recognized brand offers a selection of sorbets, frozen yogurts, frozen beverages, and a variety of frozen desserts including fruit smoothies and Dazzler ice cream treats.
