On Saturday, November 2, Häagen-Dazs Shops, the internationally recognized brand known for its ice cream, will celebrate the opening of its newest location at the Fashion Outlets of Chicago.

To commemorate the occasion, Häagen-Dazs will host a grand opening celebration, awarding free ice cream for a year to one winner through a raffle on the day of the event. Häagen-Dazs will also be giving a free scoop of their favorite ice cream flavor to the first 500 customers on Saturday.

“We’re excited to bring Häagen-Dazs to the new Fashion Outlets of Chicago,” says Nick Thanas, owner of the new Häagen-Dazs Shop. “And we think that sweetening the day a little bit with free ice cream for our new customers is the best way to show our appreciation for the warm welcome we’ve already received.”

Founded in 1961 by Reuben Mattus after years of selling frozen treats from a wagon on the streets of New York, the vision for Häagen-Dazs was to produce the highest quality ice cream available using only the purest ingredients. Mattus’ successful execution of this vision led to the launch of the first Häagen-Dazs Shop in 1976, which still operates today in Brooklyn.

Häagen-Dazs Shops of Rosemont will offer ice cream and frozen treats created from many of the same recipes that the company was founded upon in 1961. Today, the brand also offers a selection of sorbets, frozen yogurts, frozen beverages, and a variety of frozen desserts including fruit smoothies and Dazzler Sundae treats.

“Owning a piece of one of the world’s most recognizable brands and being able to operate as my own boss is something that is truly unique and gratifying,” Thanas says. “Being able to share that with my local community makes it just that much sweeter.”
