After opening three restaurants in the Denver area in five months, Tropical Smoothie Café plans to expand its presence in the greater Denver area by developing 25 locations in the coming years.

The franchise entered the Denver market in October 2013 when franchisees and area developers Kriss and Michelle Shriver opened a café in the Denver Tech Center in Greenwood Village, Colorado. In the following months, the pair opened two more locations in The Streets of Southglenn and Centennial Promenade in Centennial, Colorado.

“What they say about Coloradoans is true: They live healthy and active lives,” Kriss Shriver says. “Naturally, there’s a huge demand for healthier food options in Denver and throughout the state, and Tropical Smoothie Café is poised to fulfill that need with fresh, light food and smoothies packed with real fruits and veggies.”

In addition to Denver, Tropical Smoothie Café is currently seeking franchise partners to develop another 15 locations throughout the state, including the following markets: Ft. Collins, Colorado Springs, Boulder, and other metropolitan areas. The company signed a franchise agreement this month for a new location in Ft. Collins with local entrepreneur Atul Patel and his sister Nimisha Patel, who owns two locations in Pennsylvania. Slated to open this fall, the Ft. Collins café will mark the fourth location in Colorado.

The regional expansion comes on the heels of a successful year for the 380-unit franchise, which opened 40 restaurants nationwide last year. This year, the brand expects to open 55 cafés throughout the country.
