MOD Pizza will celebrate the grand opening of its first San Jose, California, store in Village Oaks Shopping Center on Thursday, July 31, at 5 p.m. The first 52 customers will each enjoy a free individual, artisan-style pizza or hand-tossed salad and the chance to win free pizza for a year.

As part of the company’s ongoing effort to “Spread MODness”, MOD will donate 100 percent of the sales from opening day to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo counties in California to support their mission to “provide food to people in need in our community.” MOD plans to partner with Second Harvest for subsequent San Jose openings in Westgate West Shopping Center and Coleman Landing, both scheduled for this fall. As one of the largest food banks in the nation, Second Harvest provides food to one quarter of a million people each month.

The new MOD is 2,600 square-feet and located in the recently constructed Village Oaks Shopping Center. This is MOD’s 18th store and will feature a large outdoor patio, high ceilings, and its signature, locally inspired interior.

“We are thrilled to be opening our doors in San Jose, and to introduce this community to the MOD experience—speed, style, pizza—and most importantly, our people,” says Scott Svenson, co-founder and CEO of MOD. “We are a company built around people and making a difference for both our employees and our customer, and we can’t wait to share this with San Jose.”

MOD’s individual artisan-style pizzas are made on demand, using organic dough and signature sauces. Customers can create their own pizzas and salads, using any combination of 30 featured toppings, or they can choose from a menu of MOD classics. MOD also serves local draft beers, wine, handspun milkshakes, and house-made lemonades and iced teas.
