The sweet tastes of cool culinary treats and zany toys are on their way to one of South Florida’s premier shopping, entertainment, and tourism destinations. Sloan’s Ice Cream, the sweets shop known for its innovative ice cream flavors, gourmet candies, oversized toy collection and colorful aesthetics, is arriving in the beach town, Lauderdale-By-The-Sea. Local entrepreneurs and the owners of the Sloan’s in Delray Beach, David and Debra Olmo, plan to open the new location in November, just two blocks away from the beach on the town’s main retail street.

“We could not be more excited to open a second Sloan’s, and Lauderdale-By-The-Sea is a perfect fit,” says David Olmo, a longtime business owner in South Florida with more than a quarter century of entrepreneurial experience. “My whole family is completely enamored by this incredible concept. From the creativity and brilliant atmosphere of Sloan’s to the simply outstanding ice cream, we just can’t get enough. The stores are simply magical and we can’t wait to bring the fantasyland feel to residents and visitors in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea.”

In addition to opening a second Sloan’s in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, the Olmos have acquired the development rights to build and operate Sloan’s Ice Cream stores throughout South Florida in areas such as Miami, Key West, and Naples. Their agreement calls for a total of 10 locations, eight in addition to the one in Delray and in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, with an opportunity to add on more units.

“Opening our first Sloan’s location in Delray Beach has been a dream come true for our family,” Debra says. “Seeing the smiling faces of countless guests every day has really continued to fuel our desire to expand the brand even further. We have witnessed the tremendous success and proven model of Sloan’s, and we are confident ice cream lovers throughout the Ft. Lauderdale area will be just as excited to get a taste of this fantastic concept.”

Since opening its first store in 1999, Sloan’s has become a tribute to ice cream with five locations in Palm Beach County and nationwide expansion plans to add 200 franchise units in the next five to seven years. Additionally, Sloan’s first franchise location outside of Florida is slated to open in San Diego this fall.

Sloan’s shops are community destinations like no other: Plush toys line the walls, savory Sloan’s homemade sweets fill the countertops, and original ice cream flavors.

“Simply put, we created Sloan’s to be a dreamland for everyone, kids and adults of all ages, and our focus has never changed,” says Sloan Kamenstein, founder, owner, and a classically trained chef who honed his craft at London’s Le Cordon Bleu culinary school and trained in kitchens throughout France. “One taste, sniff, and glimpse of Sloan’s sends the senses soaring. We’re thrilled to have the Olmos adding their second shop.”
