The wait is finally over for pizza lovers throughout the Old Line State, as Maryland’s first Pie Five Pizza Co. restaurant is set to open in Frederick this week.

Area residents will officially welcome the trend-setting pizza eatery, located at 200 Shorebird St. at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 29. The opening marks Maryland’s introduction to the brand.

Pie Five recently awarded 38 franchise units to ALC Hospitality, a restaurant management company owned by Alyse Cohen. Cohen, who grew up in the hotel/hospitality industry, will lead the charge in bringing the fast-casual pizza concept to Southern Maryland, Northern Virginia, and the District of Columbia.

“Pie Five has clearly distinguished itself within the pizza space with its personalized approach, quality ingredients and speed of service – there’s nothing else out there quite like it,” Cohen says. “I have been eagerly anticipating this moment for the last several months, and can’t wait to introduce Pie Five to Frederick and our neighboring cities.”

Official grand opening festivities for the Frederick location will kick off with a ribbon cutting ceremony, compliments of the Frederick Chamber of Commerce, at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 5. In addition, WFRE 99.9 FM will be onsite from 5–7 p.m., complete with food and merchandise giveaways. A check presentation will also be made to the Frederick County Food Bank, thanks to proceeds raised from private training events being held at the restaurant this week.

“It’s an exciting time because we know we’re about to change the way people in Maryland experience pizza,” says Rudy Prieto, general manager of the Frederick restaurant. “Once you come in and see it for yourself, you’ll understand what all the fuss is about. It’s delicious, and it’s simply perfect for on-the-go people, which all of us seem to be these days.”
