Maui Wowi Hawaiian, a 450-unit beverage chain known for its fresh-fruit smoothies and Hawaiian coffee, is continuing to grow its presence in Dallas with the opening of its newest location in Plano on September 30th.
Located in the food court of The Shops at Willow Bend at 6121 W. Park Blvd. in Plano, this opening marks the first of 10 units that local Dallas entrepreneur Ted Wilbert plans to open in the area, adding to the brand’s current 15 unit presence in Dallas.
Maui Wowi Hawaiian’s dual beverage concept, which specializes in Hawaiian coffees and fresh fruit smoothies, caught Wilbert’s attention after attending a franchise expo. There in search of his next business venture, Wilbert was in pursuit of an opportunity that would allow him to continue a family legacy. As he began researching Maui Wowi, he discovered it was the perfect fit.
“Entrepreneurship is something that has driven my family for generations,” says Wilbert. “My grandfather opened his first business in 1946 and served as an inspiration to his children, my parents, who passed that inspiration on to me. Joining the Maui Wowi franchise system is not only a great opportunity to invest in a quality and growing brand, but it feels familiar to that inspiration that I felt from my family before me. I hope to be able to pass that same feeling on to my two young children someday.”
With plans to incorporate every business model available to him as he branches out and develops his Maui Wowi Hawaiian empire, Wilbert’s 10-unit franchise agreement with the brand includes not only retail locations, but mobile carts and kiosks, giving him the freedom to expand throughout Dallas through traditional sites as well as creating a presence at mobile events and non-traditional venues.
For more than 30 years, Maui Wowi Hawaiian has been serving up its fresh fruit, gluten-free smoothies and Hawaiian blend coffee all over the world. Maui Wowi Hawaiian serves coffee and espresso drinks from the Kona District of Hawaii, and the islands of Maui, Molokai, and Kauai. Maui Wowi’s smoothies are come in a variety of flavors, from the traditional Strawberry Banana and Black Raspberry to unique flavors like Kiwi Lemon Lime and Piña Colada.
Currently, Maui Wowi Hawaiian operates 48 other units across Texas; three franchisees are in Houston, four in Dallas, two in Austin and others in Wimberley, Kerrville, College Station, San Antonio, Odessa, Little Elm, Lake Jackson, Cypress, and Celina.
