The New Orleans–style barbecue restaurant, VooDoo BBQ & Grill, opened in Pensacola, Florida. VooDoo BBQ & Grill brings together favorite barbecue styles and kicks them up a notch with Caribbean, Cajun, and Creole spices to create a New Orleans–style barbecue.  The opening marks the 20th restaurant and the first Pensacola, Fla. location for the concept.  The award-winning VooDoo BBQ & Grill is located in University Town Center at the corner of Nine Mile Road and University Parkway.

The Pensacola, Florida, restaurant debuts the concept's latest prototype design as well as a new menu. The restaurant design features an open kitchen layout where the food is "on stage" and prepared for each guest.  The menu highlights BBQ favorites like brisket, pork and chicken, along with traditional New Orleans dishes like red beans and rice with smoked sausage, barbecue jambalaya, and French Quarter–style beignets. The restaurant is also famous for its homemade sides with a decidedly southern drawl like Gris Gris Greens, corn pudding, and sweet potato soufflé.

In celebration of the new restaurant, VooDoo BBQ & Grill will host a grand opening celebration on November 15 beginning at 11 a.m. Throughout the day various family-friendly activities will be available for young and old alike. The authentic second line jazz band, The New Orleans Ramblers, will be on-hand as well as caricature and face painting artists, jugglers and balloon artists. A hot rod drive-in is planned for late in the afternoon.

“We are very excited to open in Pensacola with local residents and franchisees Rick and Sylvana West,” says Glen Helton, President of VooDooBBQ. “This opening marks a milestone in which we have doubled the size of our company in the past 24 months.”

The University Town Center location is the first of three restaurants that will open in the Pensacola, Florida, area. All three locations will be built by the Wests. The company also has 37 locations in the development pipeline, with plans to grown the franchise to 300 or more locations in the next five years.

"I am excited to bring such a fun concept to the Pensacola area,” says Rick West.  “Many times our neighboring cities get new restaurant concepts in their market long before we do. As a local, it is really great to be able to bring a rapidly growing concept to our area before many other larger markets have a location.”
