One of Orlando’s world-famous tourist destinations announced a major development to the corner of International Drive and Sand Lake Road.

The signature “French fry box” McDonald’s restaurant is being rebuilt and transformed into the new, state-of-the-art “World’s Largest Entertainment McDonald’s,” joining the significant entertainment and tourism enhancements underway in the area.

Owned and operated by Oerther Foods Inc., this iconic McDonald’s restaurant has hosted millions of guests from all over the world since opening in 1976. This unique McDonald’s restaurant has evolved to become a signature McDonald’s with worldwide acclaim, including being recognized as “The Best McDonald’s To Play In” by a national television program.

“For many years, our World’s Largest Entertainment McDonald’s has been one of the most renowned McDonald’s restaurants in the world”, says owner, operator, and chairman of Oerther Foods, Gary Oerther. “We are excited to reveal, over the next several months, how this new location will deliver on the unique dining and entertainment experiences you have come to expect in a whole new way.”

The almost 19,000-square-foot restaurant, designed jointly by McDonald’s Corporation and Florida-based architectural and engineering firm CPH Inc., will offer guests exclusive food experiences, service innovation, and state-of-the-art facilities to make this location one of the most modern and fun McDonald’s worldwide.

Construction of the new restaurant will begin this summer and open spring 2016. The new restaurant will be built next to the current location, 6875 Sand Lake Road, allowing the current restaurant to remain open during the majority of the construction.
