The Halal Guys, the innovative American Halal food concept based in New York City, has partnered with Fransmart and announced the signing of four new multiunit franchise deals outside the home market of New York City. More than 20 new restaurants will open in New Jersey, Philadelphia, Atlanta, and Chicago.

The Halal Guys have signed agreements for over 200 units in the first year of franchising, but are still looking for qualified franchisees to grow the brand in major available markets worldwide. With territories selling quickly, Fransmart, the Halal Guys’ exclusive franchise development partner, plans to focus expansion on top real estate markets, seeking sites in mass gathering areas like airports, train stations, malls, and neighborhoods with a significant late-night demand.

Since joining forces with Fransmart and announcing the launch of a franchise program in 2014, The Halal Guys has opened two corporate brick-and-mortar restaurants in Manhattan, and has over 200 franchise units in development.  Development territories include Houston, Austin, Washington, D.C., Virginia, Connecticut, and the entire state of California, which sold out within the first months of franchising, as well as international locations for the Philippines, Malaysia, and Indonesia.

The franchisees worked with Fransmart vice president of sales, Ryan Durishin, and senior director of development, Paul Tran, on their agreements and have committed to developing at least five units in each territory.

A 2014 article in Bloomberg Businessweek on the Halal Guys’ expansion said, “The original Halal Guys in Manhattan is a thing of local legend.” Reviews from the brand’s devoted customer fan base said, “Best Halal food in the world,” “These guys ARE different,” and “Amazing. A ‘must’ when in NYC.”
