Chocolate and wine as a heart-healthy combination? It can be, if it's a small portion of rich dark chocolate and a glass of red wine. February is Heart Month and to help San Diego 'Go Red for Women,' Luna Grill is offering a unique chocolate-wine pairing to benefit the American Heart Association.
All San Diego County Luna Grill locations will feature a red wine–dark chocolate mini cupcake combination for $8 from February 5 through 29, with a portion of sales from each pairing sold benefitting the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women campaign, educating consumers on heart health and the fact that heart disease is the number one killer of women.
Founded in 2004, Luna Grill offers authentic Mediterranean cuisine such as signature kabob plates, gourmet salads, appetizers including hummus and falafel, wraps, desserts, craft beer, and wine in a contemporary setting. All foods, marinades and sauces are crafted with care daily from scratch and meals are made fresh to order and served to the table with genuine cutlery and tableware.

Red wine has been shown to contain both beneficial resveratrol and antioxidants that may increase levels of "good" cholesterol while also lowering "bad" cholesterol; dark chocolate's flavanols have also been linked to lower blood pressure. Of course, both items are encouraged in moderation, hence the small-serving size of the Luna Grill pairing.
From February 5 through 29, Luna Grill team members will wear red on Fridays in support of Go Red for Women, don the campaign's signature red dress pins and all Luna Grill social media channels, including Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram will go red and encourage followers to share their own red photos with the hashtag #LunaGoRed for a chance to win Luna Grill gift cards.
