Beginning February 5, Naf Naf Grill will add couscous to its menu at all new stores, including all Madison, Wisconsin, and Minneapolis, Minnesota, locations, soon-to-be Philadelphia restaurants and 10 of its 13 Chicagoland establishments.

Couscous, a flavorful dish that is packed with protein, is best served hot with Naf Naf Grill’s fresh vegetables, shawarma, and falafel. Co-CEO Sahar Sander is incorporating his original couscous recipe to use the food item as a base to build a meal upon, making Naf Naf Grill the only Middle Eastern fast-casual restaurant to do so.

“What is ideal about couscous is it absorbs all of the flavors from the other food in the meal—the shawarma, the tahini sauce—it all comes together and forms a delicious and unique taste,” Sander says. “We are thrilled we can now offer this delicious and healthy dish to our wonderful customers.”

Couscous is a staple food throughout North Africa, including the countries of Tunisia, Libya, Morocco, and Algeria. Generous portions are normally served with vegetables and meat and it is spiced and steamed for long durations of time, giving it a fluffy texture and white color.

“We have always said we like to keep a small menu on the table at Naf Naf Grill because we would rather be the best at five or six food items than simply average at a dozen or more,” says co-CEO David Sloan. “Couscous is something we want to be the best at and the way it is spiced and served at Naf Naf is truly mouthwatering and you can eat it with anything. It is one of the many ways we are spreading the ‘Naf Love’ across the United States.”
