No, this isn’t a beach-themed episode of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. On July 5—which happens to be National Bikini Day—people nationwide can order a swimsuit made entirely of pizza. The Pizza-Kini was created by quick-service chain Villa Italian Kitchen along with New York City food stylist Jessie Bearden.
Each suit is handcrafted and comes with a price tag that might just singe the roof of your mouth: $10,000.
“We are excited to announce the launch of the Pizza-Kini, a truly one-of-a-kind bikini, available on National Bikini Day,” says Mimi Wunderlich, director of communications and digital marketing strategy for Villa Italian Kitchen. “This summer, we wanted to celebrate items that Americans truly love. After a few brainstorming sessions, and with assistance from our talented food stylist, Jessie Bearden, the Pizza-Kini was born. We look forward to providing this unique style to the pizza and bikini loving public this summer—we are confident it will be a hit.”
There is no doubt it’s unique, as Wunderlich mentioned. The Pizza-Kini is made “from the freshest ingredients, including homemade dough, hand-braided throughout the top and waistband, 100 percent whole milk Mozzarella cheese, sauce made from fresh California tomatoes, and topped with delicious pepperoni,” the company says.
Not a pepperoni lover? Not to worry. Each Pizza-Kini can be customized with your choice of toppings. Sausage, peppers, and onions are some of the options. The suit is also custom fit to the buyer’s body. That $10,000 will get you a consultation and measurement sessions, as well as a final fitting.
