Egg & I Restaurants opened its 42nd location earlier this month at 9778 Katy Freeway in Houston, Texas, marking the first The Egg & I Restaurant opening in Houston by the well-known Houston businessman, Mac Haik.
The “Bunker Hill” Egg & I Restaurant donate 100 percent of all proceeds from its private, pre-opening training day to the local Clay Road Family YMCA, whose goal is to strengthen kids, families and communities. “We are very excited to be part of the opening of the newest The Egg & I Restaurant in the Houston area,” says Carrie Gaskamp, community executive director of the Clay Road Family YMCA. “With the money raised from donations on their Practice Day, December 12, we look forward to strengthening our community for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.”
On opening day, The Egg & I gave its first two dozen guests one free breakfast each week for one year.
Haik has been involved with The Egg & I Restaurant concept since March 2007. He is one of the owners of E&I Restaurants Inc., which currently owns eight The Egg & I Restaurants in Colorado and, through one of its subsidiaries, franchises The Egg & I Restaurants throughout the U.S.
Mr. Haik also owns five The Egg & I Restaurants in San Antonio, Texas, one in Tyler, Texas,and one in Hoover, Alabama. Additionally, he has development rights for the concept for most of Texas as well as several other states.
The Bunker Hill Egg & I Restaurant is the sixth The Egg & I Restaurant in the Houston market and the 14th in Texas.
