The Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington (RAMW) recently announced Amsterdam Falafelshop as the winner of the “Favorite Fast Bites” category at the 32nd annual RAMMY Awards, which highlight the best in Washington, D.C.’s restaurant and foodservice industry.

“It’s rewarding to know that Amsterdam Falafelshop’s tasty falafel and colorful salad toppers combined with our authentic funky atmosphere hit the mark with our guests…this is validation for all the hard work that goes into running and evolving our brand,” says Arianne Bennett, CEO of Amsterdam Falafelshop. “We are honored to win the most coveted local award in our competitive set and remain determined to carry on the tradition we are creating.”

Winning the “Favorite Fast Bites” category in its first year on the awards list, Amsterdam Falafelshop went head to head with four other finalists made up of nominees such as delicatessens, quick-serve restaurants, mobile food vendors, and coffee shops (with a food menu). The nominees must have been in operation for a minimum of one year as of December 1, 2013.

An anonymous panel of judges made up of food and dining journalists, educators, and foodservice industry professionals selected the finalists in each of the categories. The voting public then let their opinions be known – selecting Amsterdam Falafelshop in its category.

In addition to the original Adams Morgan shop and the new 14th Street franchise location, there are two Amsterdam Falafelshop franchise locations currently operating — one in Annapolis, Maryland, and one in Boston. Additionally, there are five more shops planned for the Greater D.C. area, three more in the Boston market and multiple locations are planned for Salt Lake City and Dallas-Fort Worth.
