Auntie Anne’s, Inc and store owners Jackie Murray and Penny Paclik are pleased to announce the opening of South Dakota’s first Auntie Anne’s Pretzels store in South Dakota. Located in the Empire Mall in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the opening coincides with the new food court just completed in the shopping area.

“Penny and I have been the owners of other successful franchise locations for quite some time, so we know what customers in Sioux Falls are looking for,” says Murray. “When we started researching Auntie Anne’s we knew that it would be a perfect fit for this area.”

Auntie Anne’s Hand-Rolled Soft Pretzels stores sell a variety of fresh-squeezed lemonade, coffee, and Dutch Ice, an iced beverage.

Pretzels date back to the 7th century when an Italian monk rewarded his students with baked scraps of leftover bread. He rolled and twisted the dough to resemble his students who folded their arms when praying. After baking, he called the finished product Pretiolas, the Latin term for “little rewards.”
