Under the new strategic alliance, Auntie Anne’s Inc. will provide management expertise—including franchising, training, operations, and marketing—to facilitate the establishment of new Ed & Eddie’s franchises. Auntie Anne’s ranks in the top six percent of North American franchisors, with nearly 700 units operating in eight countries.
Ed & Eddie’s operates freestanding units offering popular homemade premium-quality ice cream. The brand name is derived from DeBartolo Property Group CEO Edward Muransky and owner Eddie DeBartolo, Jr.
"When Eddie and I first developed the concept of Ed & Eddie’s Homemade Ice Cream," recalls Muransky, "we were inspired by the example of Auntie Anne’s."
The venture affords the opportunity for Ed & Eddie’s to expand within malls, in food courts or other trade areas.
