The long-awaited sequel is finally here. A&W Restaurants has released the follow-up to last year’s popular #AWcademyAwards Sweepstakes, a chance for film lovers to share A&W spoof movie posters, vote on nominees like Best Supporting Side and provide their own tongue-in-cheek movie reviews on social media for the chance to win prizes.

Participants have the opportunity to win prize packs consisting of Bear Bucks, limited-edition posters and movie gift certificates. The campaign will culminate in a live tweet chat of the actual Academy Awards on Sunday, March 4 beginning at 8 p.m.

“This was our second most popular online promotion last year,” says Liz Bazner, A&W digital manager. “We developed more content than we were able to use and feel confident that we can bring this back annually.”

A&W has created parody movie posters for such “blockbusters” as “Shakes on a Plane,” “Fantastic Feasts and Where to Find Them” and “Mean Swirls” for film enthusiasts to share online. The alternative titles are in keeping with last year’s nominees for best spoof titles, including “Bridget Cones’ Dairy,” “American Fry,” “Poultrygeist,” “The Curdfather” and “Beauty and the Beef.”

“Last year’s #AWcademyAwards promotion proved so successful because many social media users love movies,” Bazner says.
