In honor of Veterans Day, bb.q Chicken, Korea’s Finest Fried Chicken, has donated $10,000 to Honor Flight Network as a gesture of gratitude and appreciation for the 6.8 million U.S. military veterans’ who served in the Korean War, allowing surviving veterans to honor fellow soldiers who lost their lives in the war.
“Because of bb.q Chicken’s South Korean heritage, we are uniquely grateful to the military veterans and active duty servicemembers for the sacrifices they’ve made to not only protect their country, but also the freedom and safety of people around the world,” said Joseph Kim, bb.q Chicken U.S. CEO. “And we’re especially grateful for the American soldiers who fried chicken with their South Korean counterparts for Thanksgiving during the Korean War, which led to us perfecting the art of Korean Fried Chicken.”
Known for serving authentic Korean fried chicken around the globe and in more than 30 states, bb.q Chicken U.S. (pronounced bee-bee-que, short for “Best of the Best Quality”) presented Marion Watkins, chief of staff for Honor Flight Network, with a check for $10,000 at the Korean Cultural Center Washington, D.C. on November 8.
“At bb.q Chicken, we believe that food is the gateway to all cultures, so it’s fitting we were able to have the Korean Cultural Center as the backdrop for our continued partnership with Honor Flight Network as we show our gratitude for the veterans who laid the foundation for our now strong relationship,” Kim continued.
Initially focused on celebrating America’s World War II era veterans, Honor Flight Network has expanded its reach to include those who served during the Korean and Vietnam War eras, along with critically ill veterans of any service era. Honoring approximately 22,500 veterans annually, Honor Flight Network has brought over 300,000 veterans to Washington, D.C. since 2005 – celebrating them with a day of honor at the memorials built to commemorate their service. All Honor Flight trips are free of cost for honored veterans. Next year will mark Honor Flight’s 20th anniversary.
“Honor Flight Network is thankful for partners like bb.q Chicken that truly believe in helping our veterans experience the honor, gratitude and community of support they deserve,” said Honor Flight Network Chief of Staff Marion Watkins. “Bb.q Chicken’s respect and sincere appreciation for our nation’s Korean War veterans is commendable, emphasizing the strong, longstanding bond between the U.S. and Korea.”
