Biggby Coffee Makes Franchise 500 Rankings

  • Industry News February 15, 2018

Biggby Coffee announced that it has placed in Entrepreneur’s Annual Franchise 500 overall listing (406 of 500), as well as the fastest growing listing (100 of 100). To determine which companies make the cut, Entrepreneur uses a proprietary ranking formula that considers cost and fees, size and growth, support, brand strength, and financial strength and stability.

Along with other specialty coffee beverage franchise concepts, Biggby Coffee outranked Scooter’s Coffee and Dunn Brothers Coffee. “We’re thrilled to once again be recognized by Entrepreneur and will continue to work hard for our owner/operators and customers to be worthy of making the list,” said Director of Franchise Sales, Tony DiPietro. “Company growth is obviously very important to us but we believe in doing it right and taking care of our Biggby family in the process,” he continued. “Our focus is on strong, sustainable growth, owner/operator happiness, and the happiness of our fanatics.”

Biggby Coffee has 23 new cafes slated to open in 2018 across 4 states and will also be aggressively pursuing expansion in Ohio, Kentucky, Florida, and South Carolina. “We are starting to ramp up a group of owner/operators to take Biggby Coffee to the next level in some of our Out of DMA markets and we can’t wait to see this company expand even farther,” said Abby Bartshe, Franchise Sales Manager. “It’s time to share the world’s best coffee with more people and we’re getting new systems in place to be able to do that in cities like Cleveland, OH and Charleston, South Carolina,” she continues.

Biggby Coffee, East Lansing, Mich.-based, was started with a single store on March 15, 1995. One year later, and on the cusp of opening a second location, Michael McFall and Bob Fish, on a handshake and $4,000, decided to franchise the concept. Biggby Coffee’s cultural values of B happy, have fun, make friends, love people, and drink great coffee help coffee-lovers and the coffee-curious alike benefit from a less pretentious and fun approach to the standard gourmet cafe paradigm. Besides connoisseur-worthy drinks with pronounceable names like Teddy Bear and Caramel Marvel, Biggby baristas provide a unique experience focused on brightening their customer’s day. The “Big ‘B’” on the orange background caught on, and today Biggby Coffee has over 260 cafes open or under contract across nine states including: Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, South Carolina, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Florida, and Texas.
