Billy Sims BBQ, a leading barbecue franchise with more than 50 restaurants in six states, opened its fourth restaurant in the Detroit area and its first in Chickasha, Oklahoma. The restaurants are located at 31042 Gratiot Avenue in Roseville, Michigan, and 1812 S. 4th St. Chickasha, Oklahoma. 

Tulsa, Oklahoma-based Billy Sims BBQ is the nation’s fastest growing fast-casual barbecue restaurant and was named one of the nation’s 10 best barbecue chains by The Daily Meal. 

“Michigan residents love Billy Sims when he played for the Detroit Lions and they love his barbecue,” says Jeff Jackson, co-founder and CEO of Billy Sims BBQ. “Oklahoma residents also love Billy Sims and we are excited to open another restaurant in the state.” 

The Roseville, Michigan, restaurant is located in Haney Plaza in the northeast corner of 13 Mile and Gratiot Avenue and is owned and operated by longtime franchisee Jim Turner, who owns two other Billy Sims BBQ restaurants in the Detroit area. Franchisee Steve Allen owns the new Chickasha unit and also owns five other Billy Sims BBQ locations in Duncan, Egin, Altus, and two in Lawton, Oklahoma.  

Founded by University of Oklahoma running back and 1978 Heisman Trophy winner Billy Sims and co-founder and CEO Jeff Jackson, the restaurant chain first began operation in 2004, franchising in 2009, and diners now enjoy more than 50 locations across six states.

Billy Sims will be coming back to the Detroit area and to Chickasha in late July or early August to meet with fans for the grand openings of both restaurants.
