Blimpie International, Inc. (Amex: BLM) announced June 16 that Blimpie® Subs & Salads’ traditional location same-store sales grew 6.3 percent in May compared to May 1999 results, the largest one-month increase in the last seven years.
The increase in the Blimpie Subs & Salads traditional locations continues a growth trend that began in February. For the calendar year to the end of May 2000, the Company’s same-store sales were up 3.2 percent.
The Company said it believes the positive trend resulted from a combination of activities: a new advertising strategy and campaign that began in March, a revamped Kid’s Meal program, and a new wraps product at all Blimpie locations. In addition, the system has increased its attention to detail at the store level, particularly to enhance the customer experience.
